I am very excited to start a new series on the blog called a: A book, many lessons!
Because I love reading and unfortunately often I forget to quickly the lessons that I learned from a book and things that strike me about a book.
Because I believe that it could also encourage someone to read uplifting content. The books I am going to mention include: novels, books on spirituality, poetry collections, books on society, historical books and so much more any books that had an impact on my becoming.
Reading does me the greatest good, it allows me to escape, to calm down, to relate to others experience, to learn and to get back to the real world a bit more aware.
A book many lessons is also about sharing ideas. If you want me to recommend a book that has been impactful in your life. It will most certainly be welcome!
What are we talking about?
The power of now by Eckhart Tolle is extremely famous, it is an international bestseller. It deals with the importance of being more present in our lives and explore why this is the foundation of feeling at peace. We learn that in the present moment our problems in fact do not exist. We learn that in the present moment we are indeed already complete and perfect.
I heard a lot of great feedback about it and I decided to finally read it while I was going through some stuff! I wanted to read something which could encourage me to keep going. It is exactly what it did to me, it was a great decision, since then I still pick it up from time to time whenever I feel that I need a reminder, that I struggle to embrace uncertainty, when I think too much about the future and derive from what Tolle refers the Now, the present moment.
What are the three most important things I learn from it?
If you are in a difficult place mentally and there is truly nothing you can do about your current situation, you can still remove yourself from the situation.
You can accept your here and now by dropping all inner resistance. The unhappy miserable self that loves feeling miserable has then no place. Surrender means freedom and strength.
The cause of stress and the power of mindfulness to relieve
Stress is often caused by being in the present but wanting to be in the future or living in the future. There is nothing wrong with striving to improve your life situations the mistakes lies in using it as a substitute for the feeling of life, for the feeling of peace. Doing things totally and fully, living mindfully is key to improve your lifestyle.
Relationships are spiritual practice
In the book, Tolle specially mentions romantic relationships. But I believe that relationships with closed ones, whether family or friends are all spiritual practice. There are challenging sometimes, there are helping you throughout your personal journey and they should be rooted in the elevation of one another, not as a way to magnify egoic mind patterns.
Those are things I have known for a while. However, reading Tolle deepening some important notions in relation to mindfulness served as a great reminder.
